How to Choose the Right Real Estate Agent
Choosing the right real estate agent is important when selling your property. You want someone that is experienced, qualified and well connected to make sure you get the best sale possible and avoid someone who may use the tricks mentioned in the Avoid Real Estate Agent Tricks article.
So how can you separate the "talkers" from the "doers" when you're trying to track down this illusive property professional?
Research is important. The best way to pick an agent is to see how they work when selling other properties in the area. Attend open homes, call agents and look online. This will give you the best idea of how good they are. You will be able to see how they represent the seller, property and how they handle themselves. If they handle themselves in a way you like approach them, if they are not professional, have a slow response time, are rude etc. it may be a good indication that they will be the same when selling your property and you should probably choose someone else.
After you have found the agents who you liked best ask for a valuation of your property. Make sure the valuations are based on the agent's knowledge of the area, recent sales and similar properties in the area. Do not settle for the best number. You may leave yourself vulnerable to the conditioning trick as mentioned previously.
Your agent should also have an idea of the market and where it is heading, the kind of buyers for your type of property and how to find them.
